On Thursday evening 29 September in TENT, Rutger Wolfson offers his view on the future of art and culture in Rotterdam. Rutger Wolfson is director of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, which attracts a large public to see the pioneering films every year in January.Wolfson worked as curator at Witte de With from 1996 through 1999, after which he became director of De Vleeshal in Middelburg in 2000. He has published several volumes of essays on the arts, including Kunst in crisis (Art in crisis)(2003) and Het museum als plek voor ideeën (the museum as a place for ideas)(2007). How does Wolfson currently view the position of the arts and especially the role of art and culture in Rotterdam? What, according to Wolfson, are the opportunities for the future? And how should those opportunities be seen in an international perspective?
