Shifting Mountains is a cycling tour through the Hoge Bergse Bos – a former landfill transformed into a large recreational area on the outskirts of Rotterdam. Cycling through this transformed landscape, we uncover hidden layers of waste history and explore how buried materials still impact our environment. This tour invites reflection on landfills as living heritage, on ideas of center and periphery, and on changing notions of what constitutes "nature."
Location: Hoge Bergse Bos. The tour starts at the Prins Alexanderplein, opposite Willpower Bar and Kitchen (Prins Alexanderplein 5, 3067 GC Rotterdam).
Transport: Bring your own bike. You might be able to rent an OV-fiets or Donkey Republic bike at Rotterdam Alexander station, but the number of available bikes is often limited. Therefore, it's safer to bring your own bike. On weekends, you can take your bike on the metro for free.
Times: 11.00-15.00 hours
