Placeholder: Wear your heart on your … Patchwork workshop

by Vera Kersting

What is scarier than current politics? With Halloween just around the corner, you can participate in the 'Drag your heart on your … Patchwork workshop' by artist Vera Kersting on Sunday, October 18.

Through patchwork techniques, embroidery, and painting with textile paint, your voice takes on an image that you can wear on clothing, bags, flags, you name it. It is also discussed how visual language is a powerful tool for making your opinion visible and imagining a new reality.

Bring your own garment so you can wear your patchwork on it immediately. Don't have a garment? No problem! You can also attach the design to something afterwards.

When: Sunday October 18
Time: 13: 00 - 16: 00 hours

There is room for 10–12 participants. Sign up by sending an email to dina@tentrotterdam.nl

Vera Kersting (b. 1997, Rotterdam). Although Vera's artistic practice is rooted in oil painting, she often combines this medium with video, collage, text, embroidery and installation. Using historical documents and archives, to investigate (neo)colonial propaganda and the visual language of anti-colonial countermovements, the contexts in which they circulate, and how through these images the History has been shaped, distorted or forgotten. Her research-driven dreamlike worldmakings explore the creation of parallel worlds in which ghosts from the past and future shimmer. She paints images that address relational dynamics between digital and physical landscapes, humans and non-humans and the absurdity of society. Vera finished her MA and BA at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) in Ghent, Belgium.
