On Friday evening, July 13, 2012, TENT will present the TAA, the annual film competition that puts the best graduating audiovisual talents from home and abroad in the spotlight. An international jury including Defne Ayas and Sacha Bronwasser will present the TAA during the awards evening in the Cinerama cinema. An award will also be presented to the best graduating audiovisual artist from the host country Turkey.
International Jury in 2012
This year the international jury is chaired by Sacha Bronwasser, art critic for the Volkskrant and program advisor for the International Film Festival Rotterdam. The other jury members are: Defne Ayas, director Witte de With contemporary art center, Ahmet Öğüt, visual artist, lives and works in Amsterdam and Istanbul, and Floris Kayk, award-winning animator and film director.
Host country Turkey
This year, Turkish film students will also participate in the competition. Host country Turkey has had a strongly flourishing film culture for several years, with international figureheads such as Atif Yilmaz and Nuri Bilge Ceylan and film artists Kutluğ Ataman and Ahmet Öğüt. The TAA will be shown in the autumn of 2012 in the Pera Museum in Istanbul as part of the international tour of the TAA, which starts in Rotterdam, visits the Melkweg mediaroom Amsterdam in October, and in Europe will stop at the Pera Museum for Modern Art in Istanbul (in collaboration with Eye International).
All graduation exhibitions in the Netherlands are visited
Exhibition makers, art critics and curators visited the graduation exhibitions of the Dutch art academies and selected the nominees for the TAA. The Dutch art academies participate, supplemented by a selection of art education programs in Turkey, namely: Yeditepe University, Sabancı University, Bilkent University, Istanbul Kültür University and Yıldız Teknik University.
The scouts for 2012 are: founder FULL Art Prize Istanbul Oyku Ozsoy, programmer Stroom Maaike Lauwaert, Karina van Bezooijen director KOP Breda, filmmaker Ari Deelder, artist Han Hoogerbrugge, artist and co-founder Trendbeheer Niels Post, web editor Mister Motley Irene de Craen, curator in training at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam Britte Sloothaak, web editor Metropolis M Jolien Verlaek, film critic and programmer EYE International Mustafa Ozen, director New Video, Haarlem Jaring Dürst Britt and director of the TAG platform, The Hague Suzanne Wallinga.
