Fourteen international artists invited the public to a temporary gathering, spread across three Rotterdam art spaces: TENT, MAMA and ramfoundation. Assemble Relatives was the final presentation of the Master Fine Art of the Rotterdam Piet Zwart Institute.
The conversations, relationships and working methods that the artists developed over a period of two years Piet Zwart Institute developed, temporarily merging at this specific moment, before dispersing into new constellations. Maternity, TENT and ramfoundation formed the stage for a script in which the works of art first spoke for themselves and then, over the course of the exhibition, changed positions in relation to themselves and the public.
This exhibition project functioned as a collective series of articulated positions, full of collaborations, artworks en route, changing installations, singing and performances, inside and outside the three locations.
Curator of Assemble Relatives was Maaike Gouwenberg.
