Austrian experimental filmmaker Martin Arnold is known for his adaptations of found footage. In his films and digital works, he uses intense repetition and subtle variations to bring out surprising nuances in existing film images. A stroboscopic effect makes Mickey and Pluto appear to be in Shadow Cuts involved in a real on-again, off-again relationship. Soft Palate leaves us almost literally groping in the dark. A few documents and media-archaeological materials provide the illusion of some hold.
